Shannon + Joe : USD – Carlsbad Wedding

October 24, 2011

To say we had a great time with these guys would be a total understatement … well everything except the moment leanne impaled her leg on rose bush thorns to get the best angle for the girls portraits. The wound would heal but these photos are forever. Other than that we had a wonderful time meeting up with the girls while they were finishing their makeup at shannons parents house. Shannon grew up in san diego and went to USD, so it was kind of a given from the beginning of their engagement that they would hold their ceremony in the ever massive (and extremely lovely) church of the immaculada on the college campus. From there they limo’d off to their reception at the modern Levyland estate not more than a stones throw away from the beach. The band kept people moving throughout cocktail hour and even inspired an impromptu (shannon recalls this as her favorite moment from the day) ‘first’ dance between her and Joe out on the patio. Hello Echo’s cover of Bon Ivers ‘Skinny Love’ brought them pretty close together for an exaggerated moment in the warm beach sunlight.

Thanks to the whole team who made the day beautiful for them … especially staci from bliss events for keeping things running smooth all day.

shannon’s grandpa turned 93 on their big day … i’d say he was having a big day himself. so they brought him a special cake. I wont forgets his words of advice to them … “love, look it up in the dictionary.” priceless.
